Dixon High School finds value in Union Contractors

JULY 03, 2018

Local Workers Reviving Dixon High School

Dixon School Board is beginning to see the fruits of their labor.  In Feburary 2018, the Dixon School Board approved almost $10 Million in school construction to the old High School.

The projects are funded by a mix of revenue from the 1 percent sales tax increase that took effect in July and health/life safety dollars from about $21.4 million in general obligation bonds approved last year to bring district schools up to code.

Currently, contractors such as Otto Baum, Russell, Sjostrom & Sons and Berglund Masonry have employed dozens of Construction Craft Laborers form Dixon’s LiUNA Local 727.
